Chevy and her Sirens Team
It Takes a Village

Chevy, or Siobhan Naughton Kozisek, owns Sirens salon and is ready to take on Fashion Week for the sixth year. She graduated from Capitol in 1997, where she took a liking to doing makeup over anything else. She’s been at it for over 14 years, often with makeup and waxing being her calling. She started working with media and film, too, so maybe she found just the right combination.

“I’m glad I never knew it would...

Spruce is cozily stuffed with lots of luxurious items.
Lux On Leavenworth

Tucked away in a little brick building in a most unassuming spot, Spruce, an interior and gift boutique, is almost discreet enough to pass by without knowing. But the little shop on 50th and Leavenworth manages to burst enough personality from the front windows to pique the curiosity of passersby.

Spruce is a treat for the senses. Entering the store, I was greeted with an abundance of colors, patterns, and the...

Cochance and Black Jonny Quest (right)
Down with OPP

If I had a nickel for every time I overheard someone mutter the phrase “there’s nothing to do in Omaha”, I’d have enough nickels right now to buy an Hermes Birkin bag. And yet, on any given weekend, I’ll wind up with a Facebook event invite list so long that I could probably read ‘Crime and Punishment’ from start to finish in less time than it takes me to actually sort through all of them. (Granted I only own the...

The temperature has finally turned on us. This means it’s time to pack away the tees, tanks and shorts we’ve been wishfully clinging onto just in case one more scorcher creeps into the forecast. Guys, I cannot stress enough that this DOES NOT mean it’s time to replace the summer threads with sweatpants and pullover hoodies. Take this season transition as an opportunity to upgrade your wardrobe. Let me be your...

Hair Fall

Shannon Stickman is seeing some new styles this fall that call on some older looks while pushing forward with new ones.

Stickman, co-owner of Seven Salon (located near 120th and maple) says key this fall is a “nautural look.” “I’m seeing a lot of work with natural highlights,” Stickman says. “There is more variation between the scalp and ends of the hair ... you see a lot of ruby and punch-looking colors.”

Go Goth

Dominikat clothing continues to make a name for itself amidst the lacking market for Goths and punks while preparing its classical look for the goth ball this year.

Lee Cunningham was determined to make his own clothes when current fashions, trends and materials just didn’t suit his palette.

Cunningham pointed out it’s difficult to separate fads from what is here to stay, but he suspects the steam punk look is...
