Happy New Moon stellium in Aries Sunday, April 3 at 9:32 a.m. The Sun, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, the planet Uranus and Mercury retrograde are all forming a "stellium" in Aries. Thus my/the mythic macho pose. Thanks Chelsea (not soon to be for) Long. It would seem a good time to start or initiate — but not really? Mercury retrograde! Yeah, I know it's confusing. Now you know how I feel all the time. Start projects now in your mind; manifesting after three weeks (April 20) which you/we shall/will find to be a better time — according to Michael P. and the wisdom of Astrology. MojoPlanetPower.com * ARIES (3.21-4.20) Well, we're off and running! Here comes/starts Spring! Your ruler…

UNO Hockey makes NCAA Tourney

In a process that l'll never completely understand the UNO hockey team made the NCAA Tournament due to some combination of the Tolkien-sounding PairWise Rankings, the first “supermoon” in 18 years, and the fact that Michigan beat Notre Dame and a bunch of other games fell into place. Or something like that. If you want the dirty details MavMania.com can probably help you out. The site's Twitter feed (@unomavmania) was a lifeline for those of us clumsily trying to make sense of college hockey’s tournament selection process. The important thing is that the Mavs season continues just down the road a piece in St. Louis on Friday. UNO received the third-seed in the West Regional and will face its old…

CU’s McDermott passes 2K to top phenomenal freshman year

* Who is Cleo Littleton? Only the first college basketball player west of the Mississippi to score 2,000 points in a career. Until Tuesday the Wichita State star was also the only freshman to earn first-team all-conference honors as a freshman in the Missouri Valley Conference. Doug McDermott joined him last week, earning a spot on the first-team and the Valley’s Freshman and Newcomer of the Year honors as well. He is the sixth player in conference history to complete the rookie sweep. McDermott was one of four Jays to earn conference honors, and the good news for Jays fans is that none of them were seniors. Junior guard Antoine Young was named second-team All-MVC, freshman guard Jahenns Manigat made…

CFLs: Stopping at the “Green” Lights

Usually Heartland Healing relishes sharing information and ideas with its readers. This week there was a touch of reluctance. More on that later. You can get lit but you can’t get a light. Try to buy a 100-watt light bulb in California. Go on, I dare ya. You won’t find one because they became illegal in January of this year. Up and down the Golden State, you can buy dope at your local medicinal marijuana clinic but you can’t buy a 100-watter at Home Depot. Minus the weed clinics, it’ll be the same in Nebraska next year. Within two years, nearly all of the type of electric bulb that has served us well for the past century-plus will be out…

Gates’ Way: Computer nerd touts GMOs, vaccines and techno-mosquitoes

Ordinarily, it’s considered the piety of noblesse oblige when the wealthy earmark billions for a charitable cause. In the case of techno-maven Bill Gates, the world might be better off if he kept his money in his pocket. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ranks with Bob Geldof and Bono for image-polishing acts of charity deemed to help end sickness, world hunger and global grief. Of private foundations, BMGF is the world’s largest. Few realize, however, that much of BMGF funding is dedicated to increasing the worldwide reach and power of mega-corporations like Monsanto, and that millions are spent on secret (or just plain stupid) plots to use questionable technology to control nature and populations. The BMGF backs genetic manipulation…
