Cosmic Forecast, Oct. 11-17

There is no astrology; there is only people’s interpretation of it. Though it’s based on the observations of science, it is not scientifically viable. There’s no way to “prove” it. Such is the Tao of magique. You have to channel and believe within yourself, not from without your Self. Magique requires a belief structure as a matrix from which to spring forth. At dawn on Moonday, face the sunrise and/to perceive the magique of the Cazimi New Moon in Libra. Believe me? Believe me. There be no higher truth, from Michael P. Peace and love shall conquer all. There are no mistakes, if you do what you do for the experience. Experience this…

Years ago, musical legend Quincy Jones produced a single called “We Are the World.” It was recorded at what was then A & M Studios on the old Charlie Chaplin lot in Hollywood. The challenge was daunting. He gathered dozens of the biggest names in music to sing on the record for charity. Diana Ross, Bruce, Michael Jackson, Sting, Madonna, Julio Iglesias, Stevie Wonder, Kenny Rogers headed the list of luminaries. Getting product was the goal and to that end Q, as he is known, did something very simple and effective. He took one of the track sheets usually used to document the various instrumentation on the tape. Turning it over to the blank side, he grabbed one of…

Bo Goes Home

A reporter has to try, right? And one did.

Bo Pelini was asked (paraphrasing here) if the Nebraska football team’s trip to Ohio State this weekend would be personally special. Pelini, who’s from Youngstown, Ohio, earned four letters at Ohio State as a safety. He started for two seasons and was a co-captain as a senior in 1990.

His coaches were Earle Bruce, one season, and John Cooper, three.

The first part of the exchange went like this:

Pelini: “No.”

Reporter: “Why not?”

Pelini: “Why would it?”

Well, didn’t he have a soft spot in his heart for his alma mater (paraphrasing again)?

“No, not anymore,” said Pelini. “I’m at a…

Cosmic Forecast, Oct. 4-10

Happy October! Love is in the air (Libra is an “air” sign). Love is the way (I’ve got the proof brewin’ in me basement! I’ll show you someday). In the temple of Osiris, I’ve already learned that Hell is no longer being able to express love after having once tasted love. Therefore, what must be Heaven? Please answer me next week, when we both seek to speak once again of LOVE from above. ’Til then, my friend, let’s let Venus come between us…

g LIBRA (9.23-10.22)  Save it all for October 15th; the Cazimi New Moon in your sign. Take care of the loose ends ’til then. Venus has just moved out of…

Rating Meditating: Think less, feel better

It was about 1985 when I first heard of a doctor prescribing meditation to a patient to address a medical condition. I was impressed. Personally, I had already seen and experienced the benefits of meditation but for a conventionally trained M.D. to recognize both that meditation improves health and that he was unqualified to teach it and needed to refer his patient — that was impressive.

Hundreds of studies show the health benefits of regular meditation. Very simply, meditation can be a form of stress reduction and stress is implicated in nearly every disease. But the benefits of meditation go beyond that. Our mind is the most powerful tool we have. With an estimated 50,000 thoughts a day,…

Cosmic Forecast, Sep. 27-Oct. 3

Leo + Virgo = Libra. The fire that is the Sun and the love and earthly bounty of Mother Nature combine to create the winds of autumn; creating this breath of change. The first 6 signs of the zodiac begin to develop the sense of “self.” The last 6 place that self into social context, as a test on the quest to define this recently discovered self. What else? Libra represents the concept of “I and one other.” Hey, wha’cha doing for the winter? (…With humility.)

g LIBRA (9.23-10.22)  Last week of Venus in Leo. Culminate your last 3 weeks of interaction with the “higher-ups” in using what you’ve learned and acquired to get down…

One Year Later

The answer was obvious, really. Was it the low point of his career?

“Yeah, I think so,” Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez said on Monday.

“It” was a reference to last season’s 48-17 loss at Wisconsin, the Huskers’ first conference game as a member of the Big Ten. Martinez threw three interceptions during a 5-minute-plus stretch that included the first play from scrimmage in the second half.

Nebraska led 14-13 when the stretch began, and trailed 34-14 as a result of it.

So yes, Martinez probably hasn’t endured any more adversity than that.

But a year has passed, no pun intended, and Martinez has learned a good deal since then. The numbers reflect it. In…
