Martin Sexton

Like Neil Young, Tom Petty and many other acoustic musicians before him, Martin Sexton finds solace in the simple act of strumming a guitar. Whether it’s sitting on a rock at the Grand Canyon or on stage in front of thousands of people, if Sexton has his guitar, he’s going to be alright. The 47-year-old singer-songwriter has collaborated with everyone from John Mayer to Peter Frampton. He blends several different genres of American music together including soul, gospel, country, rock, blues, and R&B. The New York Times wrote that Sexton "jumps beyond standard fare on the strength of his voice, a blue-eyed soul man's supple instrument," adding that "his unpretentious heartiness helps him focus on every soul singer's goal: to amplify the sound of the ordinary heart." Selling out venues from New York’s Nokia Theatre to L.A.’s House of Blues, Sexton makes a rare stop in Omaha on Wednesday. –Kyle Eustice
