Maha Music Festival to announce line-up in late April

* Maha Music Festival has moved one giant step closer to announcing its 2013 lineup. The all-day event will begin selling tickets Monday, April 15th at 10 a.m. The following Sunday, April 21st, Maha will reveal the line-up on the local stage. On the next Sunday, April 28th, they will announce the main stage line-up. The festival returns to Aksarben Village, 67th and Center streets, Saturday, August 17th.

* Dereck Higgins is now selling a limited edition vinyl-only LP of Sonospheres II. The album is a sequel to Sonospheres, an album of ambient electronic pieces that Higgins, a local bassist and experimental musician, released earlier this year. That first album, printed in a run of 100 copies, sold out almost immediately. In an email to the Reader, Higgins says the success spurred him to create more pieces that continued his "work in sound painting and soundscapes." This new album is limited to 300 copies, 150 on emerald green vinyl and 150 on red vinyl. To preview the release or order a record, visit dereckhiggins.bandcamp.com.

* Harrah's Stir Cove also revealed the bulk of their summer concert series line-up. The Council Bluffs venue, nestled next to Harrah's hotel and convention center, announced just over a dozen shows, covering country music, indie rock, classic rock, hip hop and 90s rock. Among the already announced She & Him show, folkie indie acts Avett Brothers will return to the Stir Cove, while psychedelic pop act Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes are set to make their first Stir Cove stop. * Icky Blossoms are joining flowery forces with Atlanta's flower-punk garage rockers the Black Lips for a Record Store Day single, which is being released by hometown label Saddle Creek Records. The Cowboy Knights single features the Black Lips covering the Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson song "Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys", while Icky Blossoms cover Siouxsie and the Banshees’ "Arabian Knights." Record Store Day is Saturday, April 20th at brick-and-mortar music retailers across the country.
