The College of St. Mary is featuring work by Omaha artists who have previously shown in the college’s Hillmer Art Gallery. Jim Butkus, Gary Day, Mary Day, Rebecca Hermann, Tom Heurter, Barbara Simcoe, Jeff Spencer, and Iggy Sumnik will be featured in the exhibition. “It’s a show to highlight some of the artists we’ve presented in the last eight years,” said Jeff Spencer, Assistant Professor of Art and Hillmer Gallery Director. “It’s a way for the audience to see what these artists are doing today.” A wide variety of media will be on view, including digital prints, drawing, painting, and sculpture. The art curriculum at the College of St. Mary is designed to give students training in a wide range of visual arts, providing a variety of experiences in different media. The Hillmer’s exhibition roster is one component in that training. Made in Omaha opens Thursday, Jan. 24, 5 – 6:45 pm. The exhibition is free to the public.
