Le Voltaire, Benson Brewery, The Food Processing Center at UNL

Sunday, November 18th at Le Voltaire, Escoffier, a play and classic French food

*Le Voltaire is organizing a great theatrical Sunday afternoon. Starting with a fantastic local actor Marty Skomal, who is playing a great monologue of Auguste Escoffier, the most famous historical French Chef, who organized the kitchens as they are functioning today. The Act lasts 50 minutes and will be followed by a 4 course meal inspired by Escoffier's cookbook that represent still today the Bible of every respected Chef. The time is 4:00 p.m. and the cost is $50 per person plus tax and tip. Call 402.934.9374 to make reservations. Space is limited to 40 people. Having seen this piece earlier this year, I would say that this is a great opportunity to be entertained, educated and fed all at the same time. Try not to miss it.

*Christian Young joined the Omaha scene as restaurant operations manager back in early fall. Christian will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Benson Brewery & Tavern which is expected to open later this year. Benson Brewery is located at 6059 Maple Street in Benson. Christian came from The Beehive in Boston Massachusetts which specialized in simple, satisfying comfort food. Prior to working at the Beehive, Mr. Young held positions at the Hungry Mother in Cambridge, MA and the East Coast Grill. Christian grew up in a restaurant family and has performed various jobs in both the front and back of house restaurant operations over the past 13 years. Christian is extremely passionate about food and the service element of the restaurant industry. Mr. Young earned his culinary degree from the Le Cordon Bleu in Boston. Excited for Benson Brewery and Tavern to open. More info to follow…

*Check this out. This would be an awesome way to jump-start your new business for the new year. Do you have a special recipe that people tell you that you could make money selling? Then you should attend the "Recipe to Reality" seminar offered on Jan 12th at The Food Processing Center - UNL ,which is offering a one-day seminar to explore the idea of starting a food manufacturing business. The Food Processing Center is located at 143 Filley Hall in Lincoln. Contact Jill Gifford at 402.472.2819 or jgifford1@unl.edu. Registration ends December 15th.
