New shops offer breath of fresh air for hair and fashion

Any dedicated fashionista can tell you that there is nothing more special then finding a salon or vintage piece that can truly meet your needs. With the opening of two new stores, Lions Mane Vintage and Parlour 1886, both in Benson, a desperate fashion addict will never be in need again.
Lions Mane Vintage, offers a unique and fresh take on vintage fashion, a trend that can easily go stale. The store which opened April 13th, hopes to give those seeking vintage fashion a fun and easy environment. "It feels like a giant closet," owner Rachel Haas says of the easy lounge feeling.

"Something I really try to do with vintage is make it really modern and fun," Haas says. With more attention on making what is old new again, and an economy where people are still struggling, Lions Mane Vintage strives to give people vintage fashion that is both high quality and easy to afford. "The quality is really good," Haas says.
Haas believes that the main focus of her store is to provide people with vintage fashion that is both easy to afford and easy to wear. "It has to be wearable, not a costume and has to be fun." One of the biggest pulls for people when it comes to vintage she said is that although it can look really modern it can also be used in so many different ways to look "avant garde,"

There's also the pull of history which is a huge allure to Haas. "There one of a kind pieces," she said. It's also the feeling of them being "mine and only mine."
"There's a historical value. You can wear a vintage piece any way. It's the individuality of it."

Continuing Lions Mane Vintage's tradition of having a modern yet wholly unique outlook on beauty is Parlour 1887. Opening on May 17th, Parlour 1887 is an Avada concept salon. Everything from the Avada line is fresh and all natural and lends itself to Parlour 1887's general theme. Modern but also somehow rustic.

"It's all plant derived," Annie Butler, the salon's manager says. "It's all around good for your hair, skin and body." To Butler and many supporters of the Avada concept this is the main draw. "It's like buying fresh fruit and taking care of the environment." it's this empasis on taking care of the environment and refreshing the customer that give's Parlour 1887 it's own feeling. It's also what helps customers have a great experience when they attend.

"It's about making sure every client feels special and beautiful when they leave. We want them to leave feeling like a family member," Butler says.
In an attempt to give their customers a rewarding experience and leave feeling beautiful, when a customer gets a hair service they are allowed to pick two out of four complimentary services including a hand, neck and scalp message or a makeup touch-up.
