Kris Lager Band sets dates for CD release shows

* Kris Lager Band will unveil their new CD, Swagadocious during a pair of local release shows Friday, Sept. 14th and Saturday, Sept. 15th. On Sept. 14th, the band will take the stage at Lincoln's Bourbon Theater, 1415 O St. The following night, the band plays in Omaha at Perry's Place, 9652 Mockingbird Drive. The CD includes a cameo by Magic Slim on the track, "Kris Done Took My Woman" and the addition of a horn section, arranged by local artist Brian Morrow.

* Lucas Wright, the owner of local promotion company Black Heart Booking, will host a free night of local punk and indie rock Saturday, Sept. 15th at the Slowdown, 729 North 14th St. Wright put together the bill as part of his wedding reception. Wright and his bride-to-be Heather are getting hitched earlier that day. Bands will start playing at 8 p.m. to celebrate the nuptials. The bill is set to include Rock Paper Dynamite,  Lightning Bug, Snake Island!, Conchance, Sun Settings, the Bishops, the Decatures and a performance by the Hot Tail Honeys, a local burlesque troupe.

* House of Loom will host the official Omaha Fashion Week After Party Saturday, August 25th by throwing a dance music bash at the Burlington Train Station, 925 South 10th St. The currently-vacant station is just across the street from House of Loom, 1012 South 10th St. The event will be open to those 18 years old and over. Tickets are $10 for 21 year old and up patrons and $15 for those under 21.

* The Faint's return to the stage culminated in a sweaty, packed house Sunday, August 19th at the Slowdown. The third of three comeback shows for the band didn't seem to miss a beat from the band's last performances two years ago. The band also didn't seem to lack any dance-rock oomph, despite the departure of bassist Joel Petersen. There were some sonic differences but they were really only audible to those seeking them out. Those looking to sweat it out on the dancefloor, however, were greeted to a rundown of the Faint's best-known songs, closing out with "Agenda Suicide". The Sunday show hit the dance-rock button even before the Faint, as Icky Blossoms brought their own light show and synth-led bangers out as the show's opener.
