  • Someone has finally found out about my obsession with Cooter from “Dukes of Hazzard.” That was my first thought when I heard that Film Streams is screening Best Kept Secrets on Tuesday April 22 at 7 pm. Turns out that it’s not about my well hidden fetish but, instead, it’s a gripping documentary about a special needs teacher trying to prepare her students for life after high school. Together with the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities and Ollie Webb Center, Inc., the theater is holding a panel discussion after the movie to consider the implications for our community. Look, that’s incredibly important, but even more important is that nobody knows about my Cooter obsession. Wait…
  • Director David Fincher, who did the impossible when he made social media sophisticated when he filmed The Social Network, wants to tempt fate by re-teaming with writer Aaron Sorkin for a biopic on Steve Jobs. But he has a catch: He’ll only do it if Christian Bale plays Jobs. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Won’t Bale be too intimidated by the brilliant and nuanced portrayal of Jobs by Ashton Kutcher?” Nah, in order for that to happen, someone would have to tell Bale what an Ashton Kutcher is.
  • For real though, they’re making a movie version of Jem and the Holograms. Obviously, the guy who directed the last GI Joe movie, Jon M. Chu, will spearhead this important, life-changing adaptation of the 1980s cartoon that sort of defies easy description. Oh, and there’s an open invitation to provide input and audition for the film at jemthemovie.com. Just now I’m realizing how many people I know are going to go there and do that. Not that I will or anything…but Jem is excitement…
