Crumbs

Chef Jillian Mahl from the Green Bowl Project will be at Tomato Tomato on Sunday January 13th at 2:00 p.m. to teach an introduction to Asian Dumplings. She will also give demonstrations on how to make Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Japanese Gyoza and more. If you would like to register for this afternoon of cooking, call Tomato Tomato at 402.933.0893. The cost of the class is $10. Also, important to note is that the class is suitable for the whole family. Children over the age of 7 are welcome. Tomato Tomato, Omaha’s Year-Round Farmer’s Market, is located at 2634 Horizon West 156th Circle.

Edible Omaha, Omaha’s Local Food Magazine, is hosting a Winter Release Party to be held at Caffeine Dreams at 4524 Farnam Street on Tuesday January 15th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. You will be the first to receive a copy of their winter issue of Edible Omaha as well as mingling with like-minded folk. The event is free and open to the public, so invite your friends. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.  If you would like to learn more about Edible Omaha, you can visit their website at www.ediblecommunities.com/omaha or visit their facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/EdibleOmaha.

Monday January 14th is National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day. Since curing your own meat is a hot new trend to the Omaha restaurant scene, thought a little shout out for the pastrami would be appropriate and appreciated. So here are a couple of places of which to pay homage to the Hot Pastrami. Cured in house, the Grey Plume offers pastrami as an add-on to the Grey Plume Burger. And a true Dundee stand-by, the Dundee Dell offers Hot Pastrami with special sauce, Swiss cheese and grilled onions. If you can wait for a couple months, the French Bulldog, Dundee Cured Meats and Cheeses, will be unveiling their pastrami. The Grey Plume is located in Midtown Crossings at 220 South 31st. Ave. (402.763.4447). The Dundee Dell is located at 5007 Underwood Ave. (402.553.9501.) The French Bulldog is at its brand new location at  5003 Underwood Ave. (402.505.4633.)
