Ellis Hall: A Tribute to Ray Charles

Though Ellis Hall began playing piano in third grade at the Perkins School for the Blind, he says he did not really make the decision to become a musician until age 14. He had snuck into a club, much to the chagrin of his mother, and said once he saw the looks on the faces of the gentlemen who were playing and saw the effect they had on the audience, he said to himself, “This is what I am supposed to do.”


Sayers, Moreland & Arbuckle

The New Year starts off with great options for high-octane live music. Texas-born guitarist Hadden Sayers released Hard Dollar in 2011 to lots of rave reviews and solid airplay on Americana and blues radio. The disc is an excellent mix of blues-rock and roadhouse blues and Sayers’ song "Back to the Blues" has garnered a Song of the Year nomination in the Blues Music Awards. Sayers rich vocals and fine songwriting...

<p>  Gus & Call</p> Local radio station switches format

* Omaha-area radio station KTWI 93.3  FM has ditched new country and its twister format in favor of a classic country format. The station, now billed as The Wolf, offering songs by Alabama, Toby Keith and Rosanne Cash. Two weeks prior to the format flip, the station billed itself as the Jingle and played a host of country-leaning Christmas tunes. The 9,600 -watt station is owned by Clear Channel Communications.
