The Beards of Comedy Tour

March 30 The Beards of Comedy Tour Side Door Lounge, 3530 Leavenworth St. 7 p.m., $5, beardsofcomedy.com Four coincidentally bearded comedians are on a rampage across the United States and no, the jokes aren’t all about facial hair. In a concerted effort to spread infectious laughter among their audiences, their mission is clear: be as rowdy as possible. Aptly titled The “Beards of Comedy” Tour, comedians Andy Sandford, Joe Zimmerman, T.J. Young and Dave Stone bring a fresh approach to traditional stand-up comedy by avoiding clichéd mannerisms and observations about how “indie-cool” they might be. Together as a troupe since the end of 2008, their specialty is self-deprecating commentary on American culture with a healthy dosage of cynical intellectualism. The Beard’s debut album, Comedy for the People, is exactly that. With songs like “Myspace Pervert,” “Football Commercials” and “K Mart Smart,” there is something for everyone (well, except for those who have been living in a cave somewhere for the last 10 years with zero knowledge of pop-culture). The Beards of Comedy invade Omaha with all the trimmings. Be prepared to laugh your ass off.
