Royal Pain

But wedding season is certainly in the air

Because I wasn’t in the mood to witness my dreams of becoming the next Queen of England shatter before my very eyes, and because I have a strong aversion to waking up before noon, I slept through Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding. Apparently, I’m the only one who missed it. More than 23 million Americans were up at the crack of dawn to watch the royal couple say their “I dos,” and total of 2 billion people tuned in to watch the wedding worldwide. By the time I woke up (just in time for lunch) they were still running recap footage on practically every channel. Later, during a routine run to Walmart, I was bombarded by photos of the happy couple splashed across every magazine cover in the checkout aisle. Don’t get me wrong, I love crowns and boys with British accents as much as the next girl. But when E! started interrupting "Keeping up with the Kardashians" to air 20 minutes of footage of Queen Elizabeth hobbling down the aisle at snail’s speed, things had officially gone too far. It’s called editing. Next time give us the condensed version or get her Majesty a Hoveround. Personally, I blame Walt Disney for the royal wedding hysteria. Movies like Cinderella have young girls believing that if they do their chores and put up with some crazy step mama drama for long enough, that someday they too will meet a prince, have a royal wedding and live happily ever after. In reality, the dream dies with Harry’s future nuptials. The royal prince is an endangered species on the verge of extinction. But truth be told, you don’t have to be a member of the royal family to have a wedding fit for a Queen. May is finally here which means wedding season is in full bloom. If you’re still in the planning stages of your engagement, then you already know that the most important step in the wedding planning process is, of course, selecting the dress. Kleinfeld Manhattan is the largest and most popular wedding gown boutique in the country. And while not everyone will be able to afford their prices, visiting their site to check out pictures of their latest designs is a great way to find which cuts, fabrics and silhouettes you want for your gown. Check them out at KleinfeldBridal.com! Also visit Tie The Knot (13105 Meredith Ave., 402.812.7696) at omaha.weddings.com. Tie The Knot has contact information for all the best wedding venues, bands, photographers and caterers in the Omaha area.
