An Italian feast for the eyes and imagination

Internationally known Italian artist Roberto Kusterle will make a rare appearance in this country when he brings 30 large and medium format photographs to the Garden of the Zodiac for a two-month exhibition which runs from July 14 to September 14. Sponsored by The Moving Gallery, the exhibit will feature an artist talk by Kusterle and show curator, artist Fulvio de Pellegrin, at the opening this Thursday at 7 p.m. The exhibit is divided into two sets of “hybrid realities,” each the result of an elaborate fabricating and staging process. The first series includes a set of surreal narratives consisting of mutant humans, often fused with animal and vegetables and imbedded in visionary landscapes. The second set is highlighted by portraits of women with elaborate and at times startling headdresses of seeds and pods and still lifes of re-imagined botanical specimens. Deliberately ambiguous, the images never fail to impress with their originality and endless possible interpretations.
