Preservation Hall Jazz Band

April 12

Preservation Hall Jazz Band

Holland Performing Arts Center, 13th and Douglas Street

8 p.m., $25 - $65

This is an American institution. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band got its start in 1961, but it grows out of a musical tradition at least a century in the making, and that is part of the magic – as if all music coming out of New Orleans isn’t magical. This is traditional New Orleans jazz at its absolute finest, a sound that lives and breathes and continues to grow and evolve. You will see eight extraordinary musicians who are part of a tradition that flows through the venue that is Preservation Hall and never stops. That is the very definition of a living art form. As leader Ben Jaffe said, “We’re part of the evolution of tradition.”  You can be, too.
