Two years ago, Troy Muller was deep in research for his MFA poetry thesis titled Honey Mushroom Wonderfuls, a collection of poems that “portend the future of humanity after a technological singularity.“ He came across news stories that casually mentioned glowing cats, spider web producing goats, human-rabbit hybrids, and computer generated DNA sequences and despite his doubt, traced the sources and found the bizarre reports to be true. This grey area where science interfaces with ethics, as in genetic experimentation, continues to fascinate the Kansas City Art Institute grad as evidenced in Piecable Kingdom. The peculiar, surrealistic paintings unite humans, animals, plants and machines to playfully—or backhandedly--warn of the future of life on earth after a genetic revolution.
