Pick: Last Summer on Earth Tour

August 9th
The Last Summer on Earth Tour
Stir Cove, 1 Harrah's Blvd. in Council Bluffs
7 p.m., $40.50, stircove.com

If you grew up on alternative rock radio in the 1990s, then the Last Summer on Earth Tour just might transport you back in time. Four of the era's most tuneful hitmakers will join forces for a monster of a rock show. Cracker may just steal the show at this one. The duo of Johnny Hickman and David Lowery combined college rock, psychedelic blues-rock and folk, as songs like "Low" and "Get Off This" garnered the band chart success and critical plaudits. Big Head Todd & the Monsters have gained their own jam-band-style following and recently have recorded a blues star-studded tribute to blues pioneer Robert Johnson. Blues Traveler have also been embraced by the jam band community, while their hits "Hook" and "Run Around" feature singer John Popper's signature harmonica work. Barenaked Ladies, touring without former main songwriter Stephen Page, will bring the biggest catalogue of hits, an upbeat batch of pop culture referencing pop-rock that became part of pop culture.
