Milwaukee psych-pop/garage band Jaill found their way on Sub Pop Records' radar back in 2009. Since signing, the band has released two records of memorably, messed-up pop songs. The latest, 2012's Traps contains both gauzy odes to 60s pop, alongside more direct rockers like "I'm Home". That song punches in its power-pop/70s rock riff straight into your head, but on the edges lurk keyboards and tricky guitar effects that keep the song from only relying on its central riff. On other songs, those psych-pop elements give a wobbly, woozy feel to jangly pop songs, providing an uniquely off-kilter feel. Headliners the Growlers do their own off-kilter indie rock, conjuring up a sound somewhere between indie stalwarts Man Man and Dr. Dog.
