Pick: Good Old War

April 9
Good Old War w/ the Belle Brigade and Family of the Year

8 p.m., $10 advance/$12 day-of-show, onepercentproductions.com

Good Old War come to Omaha with a fresh, new album Come Back As Rain. The Philadelphia indie band positioned themselves alongside bands like Fleet Foxes and Mumford & Sons with their 2010 self-titled album and the latest continues in a laidback indie-folk vein. The band seems especially adept in tapping into rich, honeyed vocal harmony while still driving their songs with startling directness. There's the heart of a pop band inside the country/folk indie trappings, which is what makes songs like "Calling Me Names" work so well. Meanwhile, Good Old War has also served as the backing band for Circa Survive singer Anthony Green's solo projects.
