The Apollon, “a multi-genre arts and entertainment hub” based in Omaha, produces its first hometown multi-media event with Full-Time: Struggle and Satisfaction in Working America. The walls of the Library gallery will be lined with visual art by local artists Sam Chesters, Beth Hanson, R. Thomas Hickerson, Mike Loftus, Elizabeth Pozzi and Jacqueline Bequette, inspired by “what it means and what it takes to earn a living and to make a life in our country.” The evening performances include original acts by writers/performers Sam Chesters, Ross Hickerson, Carol Pinard-Cronin, Jacqueline Horani, Brok Kerbrat and writer Aubrey Mathews chronicling “the dark side of the American Dream through the eyes of people for whom it may never be more than an unattainable standard.” Live music by Midwest Dilemma and a gourmet meal by chefs John Schow and Nichole Kahle accompany the night events. The Apollon will open shop in 2015; until then, multi-media exhibits are planned through fall around the region.
