Steve Pedersen is cutting loose from the confines of lawyer-dom to rock out with his sizzling indie rock band Criteria, in what has started to become a post-Thanksgiving tradition. The Pedersen-fronted band last released an album in 1995. After unveiling When We Break on Saddle Creek Records that year, Pedersen hit the road heavily. The band was the sonic cousin to Cursive, with Criteria's guitar jams cutting a little more directly and harder than Cursive's twisting and turning sound. Since that year of touring, Criteria has stepped out of the spotlight with an occasional show to remind fans of the band's anthemic power.
