Abstract painter Teresa Schmidt’s penchant for life’s extremes manifests in work containing strong contrasts of line, tone, and motion. The Kansas State art professor finds inspiration in nature, and makes drawings utilizing an organic sensibility. Schmidt’s urge to discover the ‘present moment in process’ differs from the more cerebral abstraction of curator and artist, Larry Roots. Roots’ philosophical orientation grounds itself in enigmatic imagery which is “never fully explainable.” In this exhibition of new work both artists find common ground in their use of line as a descriptive element. Teresa Schmidt received a B.A. and M.A. from Central Washington University, and her M.F.A. from Central Washington University. Larry Roots earned his B.A. in painting from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, where he was named Alumni of the Year for 2005 in the visual arts. The exhibition also features  Watie White, James Bockelman, John Himmelfarb, Woohyun Shim, Richard Terrell, Graceann Warn, and Erin Wiersma.
