New year brings several new local releases

* Dereck Higgins (InDreama) released his latest solo album Sonospheres for download. The album features 10 instrumental tracks and can be purchased at dereckhiggins.bandcamp.com. Higgins is also taking pre-orders for the vinyl edition of the album, which will be limited to 100 copies on blue vinyl. * Midtown Marauders' member Black Jonny Quest unveiled a new, free EP Smells Like Good News to kick off the new year. The nine-song digital release was recorded at Make Believe Studios by Rick Carson. Download the release at tinyurl.com/aw83fb4.

* Two other Make Believe releases are now availabe at Homer's Music, 1210 Howard St. Conchance's Calm Kids album and Lightning Bug's self-titled EP are available as combination vinyl/CD packages.

* Ladyfinger is doubling up the album release excitement on Friday, February 1st, as the Seen will also unveil a new album during a show at the Waiting Room Lounge, 6212 Maple St. Ladyfinger's latest album Errant Forms Tuesday, February 5th on Saddle Creek Records. The Seen's self-titled debut comes out Friday, February 1st.

* Local indie-pop act Thunder Power will kick off a seven date tour Friday, January 18th at the Side Door Lounge, 3530 Leavenworth St. The band released their latest EP Volumes at the tail end of 2012.
