New BLK presents a new pairing featuring Omaha veteran graffiti artist Jeff King with Fremont based newcomer Anthony Brown. Opening Dec. 14, the two have teamed up for a two-person show of both individual and collaborative works. Both artists share a surrealistic inclination in their view of contemporary experience. “I wanted to really drive home the notion of decay with this show,” writes King in an artist statement. “We are all declining, continually throughout life. Some run from this, just as I embrace it. Decline socially, mentally, physically, religiously, geographically. Decline in general, is all around us. The form for this for me becomes evident in my work. The show title "XO" for me is about loving the gradually declining form of myself.... even more of others, because within my life, there's only now that we are given. Documentation for me is necessary, and a clarification of reality itself.” The exhibition will be on view through Jan. 3, 2013.
