First Friday featuring Joi Joison

May 6 First Friday featuring Joi Joison The Benson Grind, 6107 Maple St. Free, 7 p.m., 402.932.4040, bensongrind.com   Local fashion designer Joi Joison is taking her work to a new setting — the gallery wall. For the month of May, Joison will be the featured artist at coffee house and gallery space The Benson Grind. Her works, described as "nylon art," have been featured in the Omaha Fashion Week shows, as well as on UNO's Inside Art show. The International Academy of Design and Technology-Chicago grad has said of her work (at least via artist bio), "Her pieces use as much recycled material as possible and create a rock n' roll edge that can be worn every day." So for a change of pace from the usual humdrum gallery fare, maybe the Grind is the place to go.
