NATIONAL FASH

In completely over the top shoe news, The New York Posts’ Page Six reported singer Beyoncé recently gifted her sister Solange Knowles 25 pairs of shoes for her birthday. The shoes were reportedly ordered from high end retailers Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman, with estimates of total cost starting around $20,000. Sounds expensive, right? Not for B, whose past purchases include a $2 million Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport car for her husband Jay-Z’s 41st birthday. Beyoncé, we don’t want your Bills, Bills, Bills.

GLOBAL FASH

As the John Galliano rumor mill continues to churn, reports of a possible rehiring at his namesake brand surfaced in recent weeks. These reports were quickly put to rest by LVMH chief Bernard Arnault, as reported to New York Times critic Cathy Horyn. “He will not be working for LVMH,” Arnault said in a statement to Horyn after the Dior Homme show.

Long time Galliano designer Bill Gaytten has been named Creative Director for the line and took his inaugural bow at the closing of the Galliano men’s show Friday, June 24th in Paris. In an ironic twist, Galliano models appeared to be inspired by Galliano himself, complete with long flowing hair, unbuttoned shirts and versions of his iconic mustache.
