Rookie Road Trip

For those unfamiliar, Rookie is an online magazine for teens focusing on style, music, advice and more, founded by blogging wunderkind Tavi Gevinson. This summer, the Rookie team is heading out for a nationwide road trip in partnership with Urban Outfitters and The Ardorous.

Rookie will be stopping at Omaha’s favorite independent theater Film Streams on July 2nd, to attend a screening of Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom at 3 p.m. Afterwards, the crew plans on walking to Lisa’s Radial Café around 5 p.m. On July 3rd, Rookie will be at Omaha’s Urban Outfitters location for a day of crafting and banner making, beginning at 3 p.m. They will provide ribbons, scissors and paint, but suggest that attendees bring their own fabric.

For more information on the entire Rookie Road Trip, visit rookiemag.com. You can find Urban Outfitters at 745 North 14th Street, Film Streams at 1340 Mike Fahey Street and Lisa’s Radial Café at 817 North 40th Street in Omaha.

Benson First Friday

On Friday July 6th, head over to Omaha’s historical Benson neighborhood for tons of style related events at (BFF) Benson First Friday.

With festivities beginning at 7 p.m., stop by Parlour 1887, Paperdoll and Lion’s Mane Vintage before their Concrete Catwalk fashion show kicks off at 8 p.m. (look for well dressed folks walking down Maple Street).

Local clothing boutique Curbside Clothing and clothing line Sharpened Clothing will also be participating in the BFF festivities, among many others. Be sure to stop in favorite Benson establishments such as Barley Street Tavern, DP Muller Photography and the Benson Theater space so you don’t miss any of the fun.

The Benson neighborhood is centered on Maple Street between Northwest Radial Highway and 72nd Street. For more information on Benson First Friday, visit facebook.com/bensonfirstfriday.
