FASH FLOOD

LOCAL FASH Save the date for two not-to-be-missed summer fashion events: Omaha Fashion Week 2011 will take place August 22-27 and will continue at the Old Market District’s Nomad Lounge at 1013 Jones St. Information on ticket availability will be announced shortly on OmahaFashionWeek.com. Nebraska AIDS Project’s 2011 Project Condom Fashion Show will take place on June 15 at the Doubletree Hotel at 1616 Dodge St. Tickets are available now at NAP.org. NATIONAL FASH Beliebers rejoiced last week as Justin Bieber announced the upcoming release of his first women’s fragrance, Someday. A photo of the bottle displays nested plastic hearts topping the cap, forming a flower-like shape. Baby, baby, baby, oh why should we care, you ask? The rose on the cap is most certainly a tawdry imitation of the flower topping Marc Jacobs’ popular fragrance, Lola. Jane Pratt, former editor of Sassy and Jane magazines launched her new website this week, XOjane.com. The refreshingly honest site features articles on topics ranging from the expected (fashion and sex) to less-charted territory on similar women’s sites, such as technology and family drama. With article titles such as, “Fine, I Give, I'll Stop Mainlining Sugar” and “Volunteering Kind of Sucks,” the site is definitely worth a visit for fans of Pratt’s former works. GLOBAL FASH Marvelous news for the style-conscious investor: Prada’s going public. After a year of record breaking sales, Prada announced last week that their initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange will kick off on June 14 of this year. Princess Beatrice’s flamboyant Philip Treacy hat, worn to the British royal wedding, went up for auction on eBay last week fetching a remarkable $131,000 from the highest bidder. All proceeds from the auction will be donated directly to UNICEF and Children in Crisis charities. Sarah Lorsung Tvrdik is a stylist, costumier, wife and freelance writer based in Omaha, Nebraska. Her style blog can be found at fashflood.com.
