Local Fash Fans of TOMS Shoes take note: philanthropic eyewear company Warby Parker will be in town for Big Omaha, setting up temporary shop at Trocadero in the Old Market, located at 1208 1/2 Howard St. Like Toms, Warby Parker utilizes a “buy a pair, give a pair” program that has donated over 20,000 pairs of eyeglasses to those in need in 26 countries. Warby Parker at Trocadero kicks off Friday, May 13 with a launch party from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. and will run through May 22. The Reader’s first annual Disco Ball: The Studio 54 VIP Experience will take place Saturday, May 14, at Sokol Auditorium, located at 2234 South 13th St. Doors open at 8 p.m. and this not-to-be-missed event includes everything from choreographed disco performances to a fashion show featuring the work of designers Dan Richters, Shamina Wiek and Jennie Mason. Advance tickets are available through eTix.com and a portion on the proceeds will benefit The Autism Center of Nebraska. National Fash With past collaborations including the likes of Alexander McQueen, Luella and Proenza Schouler, American retailer Target’s latest collaboration announcement should come as no surprise. The retailer announced their upcoming 400-plus piece collaboration with Italian fashion house Missoni. The collection will include clothing, home items, dinnerware and more printed in the label’s iconic zigzags, florals and other equally intoxicating designs. The collection is set to launch September 13 and will run through October 22. Global Fash By now one could presume that everyone on earth knows that Kate Middleton wore an Alexander McQueen gown in her wedding to Britain’s Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. In the weeks leading up to the ceremony, McQueen staff vehemently denied that they were designing Middleton’s gown. As it turns out, they may not have been lying. Us Weekly reported this week that staff were led to believe that they were designing a dress for a British period costume drama. Only after signing secrecy agreements were McQueen Creative Director Sarah Burton and a few assistants permitted to know who the gown was actually for.
