Precious ruffle vest, Luvbird Boutique

FASH FLOOD

On a late evening trip to Jones Bros. Cupcakes in early December, I noticed the glow of a new boutique in Aksarben Village. Despite being closed for the evening, I trekked through the snow to take a glimpse into the windows to see a ruffled, romantic coat perfect for the holiday season.

Owned by Omaha native Shan Stavropoulos, Luvbird is best described as whimsical, chic and best of all -affordable. After graduating with a degree in Textiles, Clothing and Design from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2001 she worked as a merchandiser in multiple retail atmospheres including Nouvelle Eve and General Growth Properties, the management company behind several local malls.

Upon visiting Stavropoulos' boutique for a second time, it was clear that each piece was handpicked with extreme care to detail. One mannequin was dressed with a sheer navy and yellow polka-dot blouse and a chunky knitted vest belted with a curve-enhancing camel colored belt. Another displayed a trendy asymmetrically buttoned houndstooth coat with a large cowl collar.

Local style mavens can check out Luvbird's Facebook account (search Luvbird-Boutique) for often-updated photos of new arrivals and styling tips from the staff. A photo of a unique, printed dress on the page displayed a conversation between the owner and a customer, after the dress had quickly sold out. The dress' vendor was contacted, and within a few days another dress was found.

Luvbird not only knows how to treat it's customer, it knows how to keep her well dressed.

This one of a kind boutique can be found nestled next to Aspen Athletic Club in Aksarben Village at 2110 South 67th Street, Suite 120. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Contact the retailer at 402.502.9924.
