FASH FLOOD

LOCAL FASH Autopilot Art designer Alexia Thiele is set to launch her summer line with a runway show and acoustic concert Saturday, May 7, from 6 to 10:30 p.m. The show will take place at Hot Shops, located at 1301 Nicholas St., in the first floor hall. The event will feature shoes and accessories from Scout: Dry Goods & Trade with hair and makeup by Sirens at the Loft. Autopilot Art fans can check out Autopilot-art.com for additional information. Dundee Gallery is holding a jewelry trunk show that kicks off Friday, April 29 from 5 to 9 p.m. and runs all day Saturday (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and Sunday (noon to 5 p.m.) as well. The event will feature locally- and nationally-known jewelers such as Kieran Andersen, Lynn Bowes and Kris Brashear with many of the participating artists present to showcase their designs. The gallery is located at 4916 Underwood Ave. on the lower level. See DundeeGallery.com for more information. The 6th annual Glam VIP fashion show will take place Saturday, April 30 from 8 p.m. to midnight. This year’s theme is Sabotage: An Experiment in Style Subversion, which will play out with (paging Naomi Campbell) a catfight on the runway. The event will take place at Omaha’s Magnolia Hotel located at 1615 Howard St. and admission is free. This event is sponsored by KXVO (CW 15), Seven Salon, Quality Brands, 89 Talent Management and The Reader. NATIONAL FASH Must-see of the week is Lauren Conrad’s (of MTV’s The Hills fame) new beauty website, The Beauty Department . The beauty website features how-to tutorials and tips from Conrad, her makeup artist and her hairstylist. GLOBAL FASH On the royal wedding dress rumor front (say that five times fast), Huffington Post correspondent Yvonne Yorke is reporting that Kate Middleton’s dress will be made by Libélula designer Sophie Cranston. Cranston, however, denied this publicly. Other rumored designers include Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Bruce Oldfield, Philippa Lepley and Daniella Issa Helayel. Sarah Lorsung Tvrdik is a stylist, costumier, wife and freelance writer based in Omaha, Nebraska. Her style blog can be found at fashflood.com.
