FASH FLOOD

Omaha Fashion Week 2011 may be coming to a close, but two of the most talked about events of the week take place Saturday, August 27th in Omaha's Old Market. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Project Runway fans should head to The Max on 1417 Jackson Street for Mix and Mingle with Mondo. This is a meet and greet with the reality star and a fundraiser for the Nebraska Aids Project. Hosted by Princess Lasertron and the Imperial Court of Nebraska, a $7 cover buys appetizers and chat time with Project Runway finalist Mondo Guerra.

After Mix and Mingle with Mondo, fashion fans can walk on over to the Omaha Fashion Week Runway Finale, only blocks away in the street between 9th and 11th and Jones Street. Doors open at 6 p.m. but the show doesn't start until 8 p.m., leaving plenty of time to be photographed on the red carpet, visit some of OFW's sponsors or have a cocktail. The finale runway show features the work of 13 designers: Buf Reynolds, Noah Riewer, Dan Richters, Eliana Smith, Amanda Clark, Kevin Steward, Audio Helkuik, Emma Erickson, Tiffany Headley, Sabrina Jones, Yolanda Diaz, Jennie Mason and Jane Round.

An event to note following Omaha Fashion Week is Fashion's Night Out. Omaha's version of this worldwide event will take place Thursday, September 8th kicking off at 5 p.m., with many participating boutiques staying open as late as 11 p.m. for one night only. Top retailers such as Trocadero, Paperdoll, Roots & Wings, Scout: Dry Goods & Trade and Garment District are participating by staying open late while providing special discounts, showcases, hors d’oeuvres and more. Stylish locals should plan to stop in as many of their favorite boutiques as they can, to not only take advantage of some great deals but to show support for those keeping Omaha well dressed.
