GLOBAL FASH
Bookies worldwide (yes, bookies) are finalizing bets on who will succeed
John Galliano, the recently ousted head of French fashion house
Christian Dior. If the rumors are true, Riccardo Tisci, head of Givenchy, seems to be the best bet overall to replace Galliano.
British style icon
Alexa Chung is set to release a second collection in collaboration with retailer Madewell. Chung’s first collection with Madewell sold out quickly, so shoppers should stand at attention for the collaboration’s fall 2011 release.
NATIONAL FASH
For the newly engaged (and newly-knighted bridesmaids): Got the bridal boutique blues? No worries, as the newest trend in retail is branching into bridal territory. The newest member of the
Anthropologie-Urban Outfitters family is an online bridal boutique called
BHLDN (
bhldn.com). Madison, Wisc.-based online retailer Shopbop (
shopbop.com) also added a bridal boutique to their online store. In related news, bridesmaids just participated in a collective sigh of relief, as the thought of re-wearable bridesmaid dresses seems to be coming closer to reality and farther from theory.

GLOBAL FASH
Spring and fall, spring and fall. As it hardly seems possible that the majority of fall
2011 Ready-to-Wear fashion has passed with
Paris Fashion Week closing this week, a few notable fashion events remain. Los Angeles’ ever-improving Fashion Week is set to begin March 15 and fashion’s wild card, Tokyo Fashion Week, is opening March 18.
As Milan’s Fashion Week came to a close, John Galliano, head of French fashion house Dior was suspended from his position pending investigation of an incident that occurred on February 25. Indeed, the fashion world was besieged by allegations against Galliano including anti-Semitic remarks and assault.
