On Friday March 29th, The 2013 Culinary Team Nebraska is having a Showcase and Benefit Open House. Team Nebraska will be competing at the American Culinary Federation’s Central Regional Competition in Little Rock Arkansas in April. With success in Little Rock, Team Nebraska could be on the road to compete on the national level in Las Vegas in July. The Benefit helps pay expenses for the student team and offers the public a chance to see and taste the culinary talents of the team.

“We are really excited to get the chance to present our food in this format, so we can get feedback on our dishes from real hungry people,” says Team Pastry Chef  Becca Bauermeister. 

The Showcase runs from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and is being held at the Swanson Conference Center, Institute for the Culinary Arts at Metropolitan Community College, Fort Omaha Campus. The Cost is $75 per person and a cash bar will be provided. Tickets can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/336013. No More Empty Pots is hosting an Artisan Showcase this Saturday, March 23rd. The Showcase will feature Big Green Tomato, Minne Lusa Canning Company and Big Muddy Urban Farm as well as other artisans. This event is being held from 10:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. at Eleven 27, 1127 North 20th St. Omaha.  At the Showcase, you can sample and buy goodies from local artisans, see alternative growing systems such as an aquaponics demo and mobile planters, and you can learn about CSA options for 2013.
