Although it is not quite Cinco De Mayo, one can celebrate National Margarita Day this Friday, February 22, 2013. With bitter cold weather and snow in abundance, it’s a perfect time to celebrate the Margarita that with its name reminds you of friends, good times and warmer weather. Cantina Laredo in Midtown Crossing is running $4 margaritas all day on Friday, February 22. While you are there, Cantina Laredo has a new drink menu worth checking out. Another Margarita hot spot is Rivera’s Mexican Food, located at 12047 Blondo Street. Heck, if you find a good Margarita, Facebook DishOmaha and tell me about it.

Good News for the folks and fans of Nebraska Brewing Company. The brewpub, who finds their home in Papillion NE, have announced expansion plans for a 2nd production brewery with canning operations. According to Nebraksa Brewing Company, “Initially, installed capacity for this 2nd facility will add 6,500 barrels (bbls.) of capacity to 1,500 bbls. of production already taking place within the brewpub. Strategically, this new facility has the capability to expand to aproximately 50,000 bbls. of annual capacity. Fabrication for the brewhouse and canning line is currently underway with location options being considered.” Nebraska Brewing Company will continue to operate the original brewpub. In addition to the new packaging facility, the production brewery will include a tasting room and retail space and will accommodate brewery tours. Paul Kavulak, President of Nebraska Brewing Company stated: “We are beyond thrilled to be able to finally get our beers into a packaged product.”  Adding further, “The new brewing system and facility are strategic in the sense that we’ll be able to grow as we see fit and do so without any possible risks to quality.  We feel this puts us onto a fantastic path.”
