Urban Events Inc. welcomes Omahans to dine out during Omaha Restaurant Week, which begins Friday September 14 and runs through Sunday September 23. This is a great opportunity to try a new restaurant, experience the different types of food Omaha has to offer. Those restaurants participating will offer a $19, $29 or $39 special 3-course prix fixe menu created for thus occasion. Each prix fixe menu offers an appetizer, entrée and dessert. Any drinks, gratuity or additional items are separate from the cost of the prix fixe. There are no tickets or passes required and regular menus are still being offered. Due to the popularity of this event, reservations are strongly recommended. For a full list of restaurants and their Omaha Restaurant Week menus visit omaharestaurantweek.com. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Food Bank for the Heartland.  So go forward and dine out, it’s for a good cause.

Tommy Colina’s Kitchen has started a new menu as of this week. There are many new items to try under new sections such as Munchers, Water World and The Street Taco. They are also keeping many favorites but the new menu is worth a look.  TCK is located on 3558 Farnam Street not far from Midtown Crossing. For more info on what’s up at TCK go to tommycolinaskitchen.com.

For the folks out there who may be looking for a football free Saturday afternoon, check out Dante’s Pizzeria, located at the Shops of Legacy on 168th and Center.  Dante’s has reserved their dining area for fans of wine and other football free activities while the bar area will be all about football. Both lovers and non-lovers of the game will be offered game time specials and a place to enjoy time cheering on your team or a quiet place to gather with friends.

It is the little and amazing things that can make us happy. Look at what was found inside a red pepper by the hardworking kitchen staff at Westside High School this week during lunch prep. According to Diane Zipay from Westside Nutrition Services, “this pepper was not photo shopped just a wonderful amazing freak of nature.”  Isn’t it nice to share happiness…
