Italian Gardens now has a liquor license. Located at 1228 South 6th Street in the old Café De Paris building, Italian Gardens is happy to be able to offer an affordable wine list with a focus on Italian and California wines. Patrons are still able to bring in their own wine with a corkage fee of $7 per bottle. Italian Gardens has extended their hours to include Tuesday nights from 5:00p.m to 9:00p.m. Reservations are not required but suggested so there will be a table waiting for you. Omaha opens a new gastropub at 14th and Farnam inside the Paxton Hotel called the Omaha Tap House. Having opened just this week, Omaha Tap House offers over 33 craft beers as well as classic cocktails with a twist. The menu sounds promising with Short Rib Nachos, Pig Wings, a unique selection of specialty burgers such as a Roasted Beet Burger and a variety of other sandwiches and pastas. Omaha Tap House is located at 1403 Farnam St. 

This weekend is Ribfest at Aksarben Village. Open from 11:00a.m. - 11:00p.m., Thursday through Saturday, August 16th, 17th and 18th, Aksarben Ribfest hosts four award-winning rib cooking teams for which you will get to vote for People’s Choice for the Best Ribs. Along with the ribs, select vendors will offer corn on the cob, funnel cakes, fresh cut french fries and kettle corn. There will also be a variety of brews available as well as sodas, lemon shakeups and Hawaiian shaved ice for the kids. City Sprouts (Sustaining Omaha Communities through Gardening) is hosting a benefit Gala to the theme of “Still Diggin after 17 years” this Sunday, August 19th.  The Gala is being held at Lauritzen Gardens from 2:00p.m – 4:00p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling Norita Matt at 402.214.0534.
