Many gridiron aficionados still consider the 1960 match-up between Central and Prep to be one of the greatest games in state history. The game, which was played at Rosenblatt, featured the two top rated programs in the state and both teams were stocked with premier athletes. Central brought a poignant offense with future NFL Hall of Famer Gayle Sayers and Ardell Gunn, and Prep’s stalwart defense had current and longtime head coach Tom Jaworski. The schools played to a grueling 0-0 tie and 50 years later are set to commemorate the game with a rematch at Rosenblatt. It should be a great opportunity to see two still-proud programs battle it out in wonderful Nebraska football fashion.
