Autopilot Art Gallery Show

May 7 Autopilot Art Gallery Show Hot Shops Art Center, 1301 Nicholas St. 7 p.m., $5, autopilot-art.com Those familiar with Alexia Thiele and her Autopilot Art clothing line know it is synonymous with quirky, whimsical and beautiful. It has been some time since we last saw a runway show for Autopilot Art, but the wait ends Saturday at Hot Shops Art Center. Thiele has been designing clothes for several years, and her Autopilot Art has a colorful array of garments for men, women, children and babies. Some of the clothing is made up of vintage fabrics and reconstructed materials, all stitched and created by Thiele. And to ensure originality, all items are one of a kind. Thiele has dressed everyone from her closest friends to local bands such as Tilly and the Wall. The show will begin at 6 p.m. with Laura Burhenn of The Mynabirds performing after the runway show. Thiele's husband, Jacob (of The Faint), will be DJing throughout the show, which starts at 7 p.m. Snacks and drinks will be provided, and there is a suggested donation of $5 at the door. To see more of Thiele's designs, check out autopilot-art.com. Her clothes can be purchased through the site, as well as at the show, and soon at Scout Dry Goods and Trade on 50th and Underwood.
