“When it’s right,” Elizabeth Cook says in her bio about writing and performing, “it comes together and makes a glow in my soul, so intense it pierces a hot afternoon like a hissing firecracker.” She is a fine writer, so far best known for her co-write with Melinda Schneider on “Sometimes It Takes Balls to Be a Woman." She turns her twang-tinged vocals loose with a high-energy that exudes from her lanky blond frame. Her last full-length CD, Welder, was produced by Don Was with guests Buddy Miller, Rodney Crowell and Dwight Yoakam. She’s on tour with husband and accomplished solo artist Tim Carroll.
