A new Nebraska Public Power District contract is helping to revive the state's first wind farm. UNO faculty grooming journalists in Afghanistan
The University of Nebraska at Omaha kicks off a three-year exchange program aimed at educating journalists in Afghanistan this week. The $1.3 million program, funded by a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, will send UNO faculty members to Kabul University to help build a fledgling journalism program. Starting next spring, students and professors from Kabul University will travel to Omaha.

Arson suspected in pair of Omaha fires
Omaha Fire Department officials suspect arson in two of the city's three fires this week. OPS approves metal detectors at basketball games
The Omaha Public Schools board voted unanimously to put metal detectors outside certain OPS basketball games this winter. The board approved a $60,000 contract with a private security firm to operate the machines. OPS officials say the detectors will be used for high-profile games or when police recommend their use.
