Bounty abides at Minne Lusa House

Whether preparing and preserving food or discussing neighborhood concerns, bountiful activity goes on at this clubhouse meets social settlement house at 2737 Mary Street in northeast Omaha.


An endeavor at sustainability and community building, it takes its name from the neighborhood, Minne Lusa, it sits smack dab in. Minne Lusa runs east of 30th Street, between Miller Park and Florence, Two women residents of the area, Sharon Olson and Beth Richards, bought and restored an old, run down house there for the express purpose of making it a place of social engagement. It's an expression of their shared love for people, conversation, canning and community.

McAlister’s Deli Opens in Omaha

McAlister’s Deli, a leading fast casual restaurant, announces its first location in Omaha. The restaurant will kick off a week of Grand Opening festivities on Monday, Dec. 9. beginning at 10 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony with The Greater Omaha Chamber.

When I first started asking people about their favorite French fries in the Omaha area I was ready to learn about a bunch of obscure places I’ve yet to visit featuring French fries that are prepared with an impressive variety of exotic herbs and spices. Side Door Lounge Has New Owner

The Side Door Lounge, 3530 Leavenworth St., will welcome Tyler J. Johnson as owner/operator starting Dec. 1. The Side Door Lounge was formerly owned by Steve Jamrozy, who was the original owner of the Flatiron Restaurant. According to a statement issued by Johnson, the Side Door will offer a fresh drink menu and more event opportunities for area musicians and visual artists. The Side Door Lounge will be closed the first week of December and will reopen with new hours starting Dec. 10. New hours will be Tuesday through Friday, 5 p.m. to close, and Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m. to close; Mondays are closed.
