There are still many food related activities to get you through these winter months. In fact on Thursday January 17th, you can take a class on community gardening, to learn how to start up a community garden or how to make your community garden work better. Community Gardening 101 is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is located at Douglas County Extension office at 8015 West Center Rd. Chef Jillian Mahl from the Green Bowl Project will be at Tomato Tomato on Sunday January 13th at 2:00 p.m. to teach an introduction to Asian Dumplings. She will also give demonstrations on how to make Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Japanese Gyoza and more. If you would like to register for this afternoon of cooking, call Tomato Tomato at 402.933.0893. The cost of the class is $10. Also, important to note is that the class is suitable for the whole family. Children over the age of 7 are welcome. Looking for a great new sandwich spot, Firehouse Subs is announcing their first location in Omaha at 721 S. 72nd St. They are open Sunday through Thursday 10:30a.m. - 9:00p.m. and Friday and Saturday  from 10:30a.m. - 10:00 p.m. The Firehouse Sub chain is 566 stores big and was founded by firefighters yet this is the first in our area. The restaurant has a mural on the wall depicting the fire that occurred at Omaha’s Grand Central Hotel in 1878. Stokes Bar and Grill is switching it up and relocated their west location. They officially closed doors at their 114th and Dodge location on October 20th. They are moving to 13615 California, previously the home of Blue Agave. Stokes will open in their new home on October 27th.
