Italian Gardens now has a liquor license. Located at 1228 South 6th Street in the old Café De Paris building, Italian Gardens is happy to be able to offer an affordable wine list with a focus on Italian and California wines. Patrons are still able to bring in their own wine with a corkage fee of $7 per bottle. Italian Gardens has extended their hours to include Tuesday nights from 5:00p.m to 9:00p.m. Reservations are not required but suggested so there will be a table waiting for you. Save the date for this Friday August 10th for Omaha's first Food Truck Festival. The event is hosted by the Old Mattress Factory and Bomb Digs Gourmet Food Truck. There will be drinks, food and entertainment all held in the Old Mattress Factory parking lot  at 501 North 13th Street.  From 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Omaha's Food Truck Festival will include Bomb Digs Gourmet Food Truck, LocalMotive, New Orleans Sneaux, Brotato's, island season's mobile kitchen and Ty's Amazing Southern Cuisine. Plenty of Hops to go around, The Lincoln Children's Zoo is having a Brew and Blues at the Zoo night for ADULTS only. On July 28, you can sample local beers from Thunderhead Brewing, Lucky Bucket Brewery, Gottberg Brewing as well as others while listening to some Nebraska blues from music champions Lil'Slim Blues Band. Brats and Burgers will also be available. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Your ticket includes three drinks and admission to event. July Local Food News

Dutch Girl Creamery located just outside of Lincoln, Ne., launched a kick-starter campaign to help raise funds to build a cheese making plant at their farm. The goat dairy and cheese making business is an offshoot of the Shadow Brook Farm brand, owned by Charuth Van Beuzekom and Kevin Loth. At press time Dutch Girl Creamery still needed $15,000 to meet its $25,000 fundraising goal.
