Saddle Creek sets release dates for Ladyfinger, UUVVWWZ discs

* Saddle Creek Records has launched a limited edition pre-order for Ladyfinger's upcoming third album, Errant Forms. The clear vinyl edition is limited to 500 copies and comes with a 3-D sleeve design and glasses. The band recorded the album at ARC Studios here in Omaha with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus the Bear). The album is due out Tuesday, February 5th. The band debuted a new song "Dark Horse" on RollingStone.com. The album is the band's follow-up to 2009's dusk. In the time between album's, singer Chris Machmuller has also fronted his more laidback indie pop project the So-So Sailors.

* UUVVWWZ is also preparing to release a new album on Saddle Creek Records. The eight-song album is called the trusted language and is two years in the making. Saddle Creek Records is also offering a vinyl pre-order for this album, also out February 5th.

* Nebraska Jazz Orchestra presents a show called High Intensity Thursday, December 20th at
the Cornhusker Hotel, 333 South 13th St. in Lincoln. The 7:30 p.m. show will feature guest artists Willie Murillo on trumpet and vocalist Becky Martin, as well as a selection of Christmas classics in the mix. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12.50 for students and may be purchased by contacting the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra business office at (402) 477-8446 or njo@artsincorporated.org.

* Anubis Quartet will bring their unique take of the saxophone to the University of Nebraska at Omaha, 6001 Dodge St., Wednesday, January 16th. Anubis Quartet is a saxophone ensemble based in Chicago that specializes in contemporary music. The 7 p.m. concert will take at the Strauss Performing Arts Center on the Dodge St. campus. The group will showcase work such as David Reminick’s Consort for four soprano saxophones and Nathan Davis’ Cipher for baritone saxophone solo and electronics. Tickets for the general public are $10 and free for UNO students.
