Summer Arts Fest in downtown Omaha has some great acts on tap Friday, June 7, including the Blues Society of Omaha’s recent Nebraska Blues Challenge Winner Josh Hoyer & The Shadowboxers (5 p.m.). Then it’s jump-blues, swing and New Orleans blues from the wonderful Davina & The Vagabonds (7 p.m.). The evening ends with Paa Kow's By All Means Band from Ghana, West Africa, laying down their Afro-Fusion sounds. Saturday’s highlights include Gooch & His Las Vegas Big Band (5 p.m.), Texas polka party purveyors Brave Combo (7 p.m.) and Louis Prima Jr. & The Witnesses (9 p.m.). Sunday bands includes Luigi Inc. (1:30 p.m.) and Son Venezuela (3 p.m.) The music is free and the mainstage is at 13th & Farnam. See

OEAA Summer Showcase
The Omaha Entertainment & Arts Awards music showcase kicks off the voting period for this year’s OEAA nominations, which are decided by public vote. The OEAA Summer Showcase presents over 80 bands in seven Benson venues Friday and Saturday, June 7 and 8. See for details and preliminary schedule. The schedule is subject to last minute revisions so watch for updates. Admission is $10 for one night or $15 for both nights. The music showcase happens in conjunction with Benson First Friday and over 40 artists will be showing their work in various venues.

Sugar Foot Stomp
Get your Gatsby on with the Sugar Foot Stomp Thursday, June 6, 8 p.m. at House of Loom. The Sugar Foot Stomp is presented by the Omaha Jitterbugs and celebrates the allure of live music and dance. Street Railway Dixieland Jazz Band performs. Check the events page at
