Off!‘s Keith Morris on his record collection and his nerd-dom

Here's a few extras from the Reader's recent interview with Keith Morris of Off! The band plays the Waiting Room Lounge, 6212 Maple St., Tuesday, October 30th.

Off!'s Keith Morris may have co-founded two seminal hardcore acts Black Flag and Circle Jerks, but he'll be the first to tell you just how cool he isn't.

"I would consider myself a nerd," Morris says.

Morris' nerd-dom centeres on music, as the ex-music store employee has an expansive music collection. Morris estimates that collection includes 6,000 vinyl record albums, 2,000 CDs, 400 cassette and more than 1,000 seven-inch singles.

Record store stops are often a part of Morris' tour stops and Morris says he feels fortunate when there's one right by where he's scheduled to play.

Morris also admits to being a bit of a Luddite, but he recently bought a laptop computer.

"I'm finally becoming a member of the modern world. I'm coming out from the cave," Morris says.
