Movieha! - Omaha’s favorite movie podcast

Another week closer to our first anniversary. If you haven't started saving your quarters up to buy us a pony, you'd better start now. This week's show digs into the Muppet-verse, reveals Russell Crowe's biblical origins, warns you about the worst trailer in the history of trailers, explores a lady soldier movie, analyzes a freezing cold ninja, and serves up poetry. If you want more, you'll have to start paying us. Give it a listen and then look below for the trailers we mentioned!

On Your Radar: That's My Boy

There are 1,152 "likes" for this trailer on YouTube and only 154 "dislikes." This is why we can't have nice things, America. Watch this and feel shame.

Netflix Roulette: Lucky

The son of Hanks must be making up for his dad's niceness. Why else would he be feeling so murdery? This movie was partially filmed in Omaha, so rejoice that our city was used as a backdrop for serial killin'!

Cutting Room for March 7 2012

  • As I’m sure outspoken feminist Rush Limbaugh is aware, March is Women’s History Month, or as the shock jock calls it “A Celebration of Whores Past.” Luckily, not everyone celebrates by tossing out sexist slurs, as several nonprofit groups have partnered with House of Loom (houseofloom.com) to present free screenings of four films celebrating women in the arts, with in-kind donations encouraged to benefit Lydia House for Women and Children in Omaha. Did I mention that it comes with dinner? Because it totally does! Things kick off March 7th at 7 pm, with a new film at that time each Wednesday all month long. So bring your donations, including women’s toiletries and baby items, and rush to celebrate women’s history just don’t celebrate women’s history like Rush.
  • Speaking of divisive icons, Jane Fonda is Omaha bound! Film Streams (filmstreams.org) will play host to the former Turner spouse on Sunday, May 13 at 6:30 pm at the Holland Performing Arts Center (omahaperformingarts.org) for Feature IV, the nonprofit theater’s annual fundraising celebration. Tickets go on sale Wednesday March 28 for $35, so be sure to get them now in order to guarantee a chance to ask Fonda all about her pivotal role in Monster in Law, the most beloved film of our generation.
  • Good news Muppet-philes, another dose of our fuzzy felt finger-fueled friends is on its way! The Muppets sequel will not be written by Jason Segal this time out, but he may still star in it, as his buddy, Nicholas Stoller, and the director of the first film, James Bobin, have taken on the screenwriting duties. A note to those fellas: there’s no such thing as too much Gonzo.

Welcome back, you intrepid voyagers of the interwebs. We have another delicious audio-buffet that we cooked for you, clocking in at 0 calories and your entire daily intake of inappropriate nicknames for breasts. This week we dissect the Oscars, defend The Lorax's honor, check out a lady-Bourne trailer, play Netflix roulette, and deliver you some poetry. All in a week's work. Click away and listen up, and then meet me below for the trailers we mentioned!

On Your Radar: ID:A

If you like your amnesiac possible spies shaken, stirred, and with lady parts, you'll love this one. The trailer don't tell you jack squat about what's up, but as you heard in the podcast, this is a tale of an amnesiac fighting for her life against unknown foes. Sounds enticing, no?

Netflix Roulette: Norwegian Ninja

Were we NOT going to do a movie named Norwegian Ninja? I mean, really. Watch the trailer. If the awesome 80s-sounding music doesn't get you, chances are the dude weightlifting a wolf will.
